Office of Research continues to support KSU innovation

Even while working remotely, the stands ready to engage and bolster the research accomplishments of Kennesaw State University faculty and students.

Between the recently completed Symposium of Student Scholars, a new Research with Relevance virtual lecture series, and a continually engaged workforce, cutting-edge research continues, and the Office of Research offers services and resources to help.

Some of the ways the Office of Research is engaging with the KSU community:

  • The Symposium of Student Scholars, hosted by the , took place virtually, via Microsoft Teams, as 343 students presented more than 160 research projects from departments across all of KSU鈥檚 academic units.
  • The Office of Research has held , Friday Features, a series of presentations and chats taking place on Microsoft Teams. Here, KSU researchers discuss their findings before opening the virtual floor to questions from a large gathering of participants, both internal and external to KSU. The first installments in the series drew more than 120 participants apiece. These entertaining lectures take place each Friday at 4 p.m. through the end of May 2020.
  • The Office of staff offers virtual resources to KSU faculty in the pursuit of internal and external grants for their research endeavors. For example, the staff recently hosted a virtual interdisciplinary research networking event for KSU faculty and students so they could network with others outside their academic fields to offer and gain varying perspectives on KSU鈥檚 broad interdisciplinary research themes.
  • The Office of Research also encourages all KSU researchers to claim their profiles within Pivot, a searchable database of external grant notices and potential research collaborators ().
  • The Office of Research Compliance staff continues to work with colleges in facilitating and monitoring university-wide compliance of research protocols during this COVID-19 pandemic to ensure responsible and ethical conduct as outlined by federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Finally, the Office of website has resources to better position work in the highly competitive world of grants. This includes a step-by-step guide to KSU鈥檚 procedures for applying for and securing grants, as well as virtual office hours from 3-4 p.m. every Wednesday. The Office of Sponsored Programs also includes a crew of experts well-versed in navigating the grant processes.
