    COOP 2000 (Audit Credit for Rotating Co-ops)

    KSU's Cooperative Education (co-op) program is built around three alternating semesters over a five-semester period with the same company in a position that provides experience directly related to your academic major. Students in these positions are paid a wage.

    Requirements for participation:

    • A full-time (40 hours per week) co-op position, with full-time course enrollment during school terms between work terms
    • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class level 色色啦 (also some graduate students with a declared eligible major); at least 30 completed credit hours; and a 2.50KSU GPA
    • At least one completed semester at KSU prior to beginning the co-op position
    • Attendance at a cooperative education (co-op) workshop

    NOTE: this is an audit course which offers 12 audit credits to students working in a full-time co-op

    • ARCH 3398 is worth 4 credits for 40 hours per week in the Summer, and 2 credits for Spring.

    • Must have the host firm issue an agreement (short letter) that they will support an enriched work environment with varied experiences supporting a weekly log or work report that the student will submit to the instructor of record

    ARCH 3398/W01: Architecture Internship

    Architecture students are NOT eligible for a co-op position due to the requirement that Architecture Studio be attended each Fall and Spring. Internships are recommended.

    Any Architecture students seeking internship credit through NCARB toward licensure MUST read the following carefully:

    Students intending to pursue a career in architecture must follow the requirements set forth by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). All of NCARB鈥檚 54 U.S. jurisdictions require individuals to gain and document a certain amount of experience before becoming eligible to sit for the license and become a registered architect. This experience must be consistent with requirements and procedures of the Architecture Experience Program (AXP) program. Students pursuing a career in architecture are highly encouraged to visit the NCARB APX website.

    The process begins by contacting Professor Stella Payne at spayne66@kennesaw.edu.  She will answer questions related to eligibility and share preliminary forms that must be filled out prior to proceeding. 

    Participation Requirements:

    • A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
    • Completion of at least 60 hours toward graduation
    • If you declared a major in the School of Communication programs Fall 2015 or after, you MUST BE ADMITTED to the program to be eligible for internship.
    • 3 hours credit in fall and spring require working 10 to 19 hours per week.  3 hours of summer semester credit must result in 20 to 29 hours per week.

Under direction of faculty members, students will explore individually directed studio projects and/or industry focused internship partnerships. Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering & Engineering Technology

  • KSU's Cooperative Education (co-op) program is built around three alternating semesters over a five-semester period with the same company in a position that provides experience directly related to your academic major. Students in these positions are paid a wage.

    Requirements for participation:

    • A full-time (40 hours per week) co-op position, with full-time course enrollment during school terms between work terms
    • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class level 色色啦 (also some graduate students with a declared eligible major); at least 30 completed credit hours; and a 2.50 KSU GPA
    • At least one completed semester at KSU prior to beginning the co-op position

    NOTE: this is an audit course which offers 12 audit credits to students working in a full-time co-op.

    What kind of work/job qualifies for Civil Engineering course credits?

    • The work duties must be relevant to the practice of engineering and/or scientific research. Production work that includes tasks such as CAD, data collection/analysis, or design qualify. Work that is not related to engineering, such as filing documents, working as a manager in a non-engineering company, or manual labor, do not qualify.

    This course is the required capstone experience for students completing the program requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education. Course topics include public health education trends, certifications, professional ethics, liability, marketplace needs, and employment strategies. Students will work under the direct supervision of public health education professionals and a university supervisor. The course will also include regularly scheduled professional development seminars on campus.
